Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What age groups do you study?

Most of our studies involve children between 12 months and 8 years old. Each study has its own specific age range, which is listed under "Current Studies" above.

How long does a study visit take?

Study visits typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, including time for check-in and any questions. We always let you know the expected duration before you commit.

Can I stay with my child during the study?

Yes! A parent or caregiver is always present during our studies. In many studies, we actually ask parents to participate alongside their child.

Is my child allowed to stop at any time?

Absolutely. Participation is entirely voluntary. You or your child can stop at any point, for any reason, without any penalty.

Will my child be filmed or recorded?

Some studies involve video recording to allow us to review children's responses carefully later. We always obtain your written consent before any recording takes place.

Is there compensation for participating?

Children typically receive a small gift (e.g., a book or toy) as a thank-you. Some studies also offer a gift card for parents. Details are provided for each specific study.

How is my family's information kept private?

All data are de-identified and stored securely. We never share personally identifiable information with third parties. Our research is overseen by our university's Institutional Review Board (IRB).
